Education

Dr. Savedoff graduated from Binghamton University and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He completed his adult psychiatry residency training at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s–Roosevelt Hospital, where he was deeply involved in teaching residents, interns, and medical students.

During residency, Dr. Savedoff was recognized for his commitment to education with the “Resident as Teacher” award, reflecting his ability to clearly explain complex topics and mentor future psychiatrists. His passion for teaching continues today through his academic appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he actively supervises and trains psychiatric residents across several Mount Sinai hospitals.

Dr. Savedoff has held staff psychiatrist positions at John Jay College, Fordham University, and the Addiction Institute of New York, and served as a teaching attending at the Zirinsky Center at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, a specialized research center for Bipolar Disorder. His work there has made him a recognized specialist in bipolar and other mood disorders.

He is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association.

Working Style & Treatment Approach

Dr. Savedoff is known for a collaborative, attentive, and educational approach to care. He takes time to listen carefully, answer questions thoroughly, and ensure patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options. His style is thoughtful and flexible, recognizing that no two individuals — or treatment plans — are the same.

As a psychiatrist, Dr. Savedoff is trained in both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, including dynamic therapy, supportive therapy, family therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). He may provide medication management, therapy, or a combination of both, depending on the patient's goals and clinical needs. Research shows that combining therapy and medication can often lead to stronger and more lasting outcomes, and Dr. Savedoff works closely with patients to determine the most effective approach.

When appropriate, he collaborates with outside therapists and other providers to create a cohesive treatment team. For patients seeking a separate therapist, he maintains a trusted referral network and helps guide patients toward a good fit.
