Dr. Rachel Koreen, D.O.
Biography
Dr. Rachel Koreen is a compassionate outpatient psychiatrist who has been interested in mental health from a young age, drawn to the meaningful impact that thoughtful,
supportive care can have on people’s lives.
She completed her undergraduate studies at Emory University and earned her medical degree from Touro College of Medicine Harlem Campus. She completed her psychiatry residency
at Mount Sinai Morningside West, where she served as Outpatient Senior Resident and as an Intensive Outpatient Program Psychiatrist during her final year.
Her training also included work in an eating disorder clinic, consult-liaison psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and a specialty personality disorders clinic, giving her experience
across a wide range of clinical settings.
She has also participated in global health initiatives in Ghana, Romania, India, and Guatemala, experiences that have deepened her appreciation for culturally thoughtful, individualized
care.
Working Style & Treatment Approach
Dr. Koreen believes that effective treatment starts with a strong, trusting relationship.
She takes a collaborative and patient-centered approach, working closely with each individual to understand their story, goals, and challenges. She integrates psychotherapy
and medication management when appropriate, and is trained in CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, and supportive therapy.
Her style is warm, thoughtful, and nonjudgmental, and she strives to create a space where patients feel comfortable being open and understood.
Outside of her work, Dr. Koreen enjoys spending time with her dog, exploring New York’s vibrant food scene, learning about new workout classes, meeting with her book club, and travel.
